Our Opening Day Open House is Saturday, April 2nd!
The new greenhouse is filling up with beautiful plants and, call me weird, but it smells just delicious. Not the scent of flowers, but that warming damp earth smell that really signals the beginning of a new season out in the garden.
We got off pretty light this winter with higher temperatures and very little snow, and I don’t hear too many complaints after the last two winters we endured. Nights are still chilly, but already the ground is warming up and before you know it will be in prime condition for planting.
Still, plants in my garden are taking their time to emerge, so if you need an extra shot of spring beauty stop by and see what’s already in and looking great here at Pondside. Hellebores are becoming more and more popular, with good reason, and we’ve brought in several top varieties… singles and doubles in shades from yellow and white through pink and deepest black-red. We have several varieties of Lavender ready to go, and more coming. Violas, Scilla, Dianthus and Geums are flowering and many others sport tender new leaves just as pretty as any blossom.
Betty and her crew of Pondsiders have been potting up like crazy for a month now and there’s a large crop of great perennials and very interesting shrubs in the pipeline, so stay tuned for more about our new growing operation.
We invite all our customers to join us opening day for complimentary hot beverages and light refreshments throughout the day. As always, once we open we’re here seven days a week for you, from 9 until 6, so please stop in, say hello and check out what’s new for 2016!
